[Hosting Server] Server-wide outage.

We are aware of sever-wide outage that is preventing access to most sites and also preventing access to DirectAdmin.

This includes the "Fatal error: Class 'JException' not found in......" error that users have been reporting and also database connection errors such as "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL"
Essentially, MySQL is not responding, this means that all logins to DirectAdmin, Email and most websites will fail.

Thanks for your patience with this, we are working on a solution.

Thanks for the update - we know you'll get it fixed when you can. Do you know if emails are being lost or if they will arrive once the problem is fixed?

Thanks,
Andy

Some will. When an e-mail can not be delivered it stays in a queue on the sending server and retries the sending at regular intervals. After a fixed time (set on a server by server basis) if delivery has not succeeded the e-mail is returned to the sender as non-deliverable. A common setting for this is 48 hours.

So, e-mails sent up to 48 hours before the fix should still arrive, others won't.

Fatal error: Class 'JException' not found in /home/sheff229/domains/229thsheffieldscouts.org.uk/public_html/libraries/joomla/error/error.php on line 136

This still seems to be an issue for me at the 229th Website.

The stainless Network one has gone error 403?

Service Outage Update

Is there any further update on the Server outage? Seemed like things were on the mend this time last week, but have heard nothing since - just really wanted to check that the problem is still server wide and being looked at and not just a local problem with my site?

I believe the data centre has booked us in for works to complete restoring the data after midnight tonight, once confirmed there will be another announcement.

Question

I've not seen anything of my site (www.petworthscouts.org.uk) for a couple of months now, is that to be expected? Is the problem still being worked on?

Is there any update on whether it should have been restored by now? How do I know when and if to report it as an exception?

I'm waiting for the 'All should be ok now' message to come out...

As there hasn't been an 'all should be ok' message you should probably assume at the moment it is down with all the others and being worked on so just sit tight and wait!

At the risk of stirring up a hornets nest, do we have any timescale for the necessary work to be completed? If the data centre started restoring the data last Saturday has it been completed yet and how much is left to be done?
Sorry. It's just that I can't understand why there is so little information coming out when there is clearly a lot of interest in it. I'm sure everyone is working flat out to get it sorted and, yes, everyone is extremely grateful. It's just the uncertainty of it all.

Yes the issues are being worked on, however everything boils down to time and money. If we were a paid host we could put money and time into the problem. However as a free host all the extra fixes, re-installations and restorations etc cost someone money, plus their time outside their day job, scouting roles, family comittments etc.

As soon as we know more we will update the forum.
