Wayne Called My Bluff

Mixing metaphors - I have been hoist by my own petard

Personally, I will rarely refuse a challenge. I will do my best to make things happen. So when someone says we can't do, or they won't do. I do my best to show them they can, or turn them around. So, I should have known better...

When I challenged Wayne, I called his bluff to come and see for himself the issues that we have. Wayne called mine and said, when can I visit?

All I can say is that we have been very fortunate to have had the benefit of his attention for the best part of a day. We had some frank discussions and we are perhaps all a little wiser for the meetings we held.

Will Wayne's wisdom help us resolve some of our problems? Time will tell, we have certainly taken on board some positive points.

Will our input help Wayne understand our grass roots issues? I don't know, they must add to his experiences and feedback may be useful to him at Committee of Council level.

Yes, we clashed over data transfer but I think that we now see each others' viewpoint. However, on the whole we had what I think was a positive meeting with one of the most influential members of the Scout Association.

So, a public thank you to Wayne for taking time out of his schedule to meet with us and listen to our woes. It is just a great pity that there are not enough days in a year for people of Wayne's standing to visit every District in the country.

And in case some of you are wondering why no detail; well even I have the decency to keep certain discussions behind closed doors. That and the bribe I was given to keep quiet. Unfortunately Cash for Gold has sent it back saying that is is just shiney metal....

Now, about the points we never got around to....

Bless yer Wayne, must have taken alot of shiny to get Ewan to keep his mouth shut! I echo Ewans' wish that there were enough time and bodies.
