    Easter meeting activity for Cubs

We have done quite a bit of art & craft this term so I really don't want to do any more tomorrow evening. I don't really do religion at meetings either.

I would still like to do something that is vaguely Easter-related or seasonal though.

Has anyone got a good idea tucked away that they could share with me? If it involves rabbits, so much the better, because I have called the meeting "Very Bunny". (Sorry - my puns are infamous!)

    Thanks in advance!

Game - Egg and spoon race (easter bunny training game)

compass trail egg hunt (maybe the bunny lost his eggs?)
    eg Egg Hunt in teams

or hide diferent coloured egg pictures around an area and do a wide game collecting them.

eggs in the basket game: each six has a static basket, in their corner. there are 'eggs' or paper balls in the middle one per six and they have to try and get 2 eggs in their basket. stealing is allowed, but no violence!

some small eggs as a reward

Nele, I think that all sounds great! Thank you so much.

I am hoping for good weather, although the forecast is a bit variable. If anyone has a couple more suggestions I would be very grateful.

It will be fine tomorrow night - I've ordered the weather (we're firelighting!)

    "Bowls" with creme eggs

Tweedledum & Tweedledee - adapted with a suitable phrase - "I am the Easter Bunny"

    Bunny Hoping relays

Adapt "halt" (as in this months Cub Scout supplement) and use bunny hops instead of normal jumps

Any favourite throwing/catching game with creme eggs instead of a ball

Pioneering - build an egg cup for your Bunny's creme egg. Use spaghetti/marshmallows, newspapers or garden canes whatever's easiest for you- tallest wins

Bunny's love carrots - make some carrot soup?

make chocolate rabbits? either solid or hollow
Pin the tail on the rabbit
Can they tell the difference between a hare and a rabbit?
Some facts on rabbits? have a look at the World record rabbit, and the different types of rabbit?

    Easter

It should be appropriate to spend a little time on what Easter means to Christians - ie a rescue mission - and link that with some activities - eg

moving across the room on chairs without touching the ground - to escape

doing some indoor pioneering and then rescuing an action man or similar using a bowline to lift him clear of an obstacle ?

    also

We've done walking on a bearing, in the dark, to find creme eggs - as a form of easter egg hunt as part of a "James Bond" style evening... (we did this in the grounds of Fettes College, where Bond went to School).

and... last week we skinned and butchered rabbits and then cooked them with a Jamie Oliver recipe... (perhaps better for Scouts than Cubs though).

When my son was little, we'd hide the plastic eggs all around inside and outside the house, but instead of treats in the eggs, there was a clue (i.e. 'PopPop loves his truck'--- and the next egg would be on the seat of the truck) to where the next egg was located. He went in and out of the house, through the woods, etc. You could do this with a little planning, and arriving a bit before the cubs, with the final 'prize' maybe some sweets, or points if you do that for your sixes, etc. You can do a competition if you do two smaller treasure hunts, and have the sixes compete to see who finds their final clue first.

    Good luck!!!

Thanks all - we did the egg and spoon race, and a few others that you suggested. Unfortunately the weather was drizzly, so egg-hunts were off the list.

Still managed to fill them full of sugar and send them home to their parents with the challenge of getting their hopelessly hyperactive Cub to sleep.
