Anyone have any experience of doing this with Explorers.
It's not been bought about by my overwhelming desire to throw some of them out of a plane at times
But a request for more extreme activities so if anyone knows anything please share

Yes, Shacklewell Hollow is less than 10 minutes away and is very reasonable, we had our district AGM there last weekend. On the map below its just to the right of Empingham on the A606.

Also it appears you can camp at the flight site.

They'll only do it wrong once ............... I would like to see their facebook status on the way down. Seems they can manage to change it whilst tying knots or even playing games.

I'm pretty sure they did that on The Gadget Show once, using a 3G mi-fi device of some sort.

I would be very, very cautious about doing this with explorers as even the professionals get it wrong (my cousin is a very experienced skydiver, landed funny once and broke both her legs to the point that if she ever breaks them again they wouldn't be able to sort them out and she'd be wheelchair bound...)

There are quite a few indoor skydive places, also called vertical wind tunnels...quite often come up on voucher websites!

We've been with these people several times. Three times to their SkyHigh camp in July - you get a lot more then as well, climbing wall, land yachting, go karting, etc.
We've also been just for parascending. You can camp there, but we tend to day trip as it's pretty close to us. It's near Rutland Water so if you want water activities as well, talk to the Anglian Water Watersports Centre.

Yes go for it, we took them down to Netherhaven to the army parahute association, two years ago it cost £150 for the training and included one jump. (they done us their member rate :-)) training all day saturday and jumped on the sunday morning.

we camped in a camping barn they have on site.

12 of us jumped, one injury (me!) but the Yp loved it. some parents came to watch.

I wanted to do the 8 jumps to get my wings, but everytime i think about going back my ankle starts to hurt.

they can only do it if they are over 16 (fixed line jump) but can do a tandem at any age I think.

we did have one scary bit when we watched the video at the debrief one lad went upside down as he exited the plane and his feet caught the lines, fortunatly he feel back into postion and dint get caught up. It made me realise this is a high risk actvity. so make sure your young people you take understand the risk and are mature enough that you will know you can trust they will know what to do if things go wrong.

if you are over 40 you need a medical cert from the doctor, and you have to have a BMI under 27 I think, but ideally under 25. (they make exceptions for body builders and the very fit)

go for it, let me know when you are going and I might see if I man up for that second jump. I just better not tell the wife :-)
