    Where do you meet?

Not so much where, but 'in what'!

If any other please point them out!

Having just read a report about how Dartford Council are trying to regenerate their high street, they mentioned scouts guides and other voluntary organisations renting units as a meeting space. Do you feel this is suitable?

If the unit is large enough then yes it could work. I know of halls used by scouts/guides and other organisations that have similar ceiling height to a shop and work fine. Also know a few scout groups that meet in quite small halls and manage fine.

My group meet in a brick HQ which was originally a small council yard. We bought it off them when they left and its since had a small extension. This was back in the 70s I'm told. We just have a main hall, kitchen, office, toilets, loft and a yard outside.

Ours was purpose built by the group leaders themselves in the 1960s. Alas it is seriously showing its age and needs complete demolition and starting again.

I'm no expert on this subject but I thought that one of the main issues with High Streets was the relocation of mainstream retailers to out-of-town malls and their replacement with charity shops with reduced footfall.

How would leasing a shop to Scouts/Guides etc, who only meet in the evening generally, help with regeneration?

Im not sure really, I don't know if it is just to get some tenants into units, but i imagine that any group using it as a meeting place would have to move in a few years if the rental market pics up in that area.

Not saying I agree with the concept, just wondered where other groups met. On the plus side I can imagine it would be a good way to show scouting is alove in the community, I know some halls that are very tucked away!

We have a small camp site. Two indoor halls. Kitchen. Shower block. Memorial room. And upstairs storage. Plus an attic which used to host a rifle range.

My old scout group met in a pre cast concrete hut with a little land around it

Loughborough group met in a church hall

Explorers meet in what I'd call a mobile classroom at...well...a school...

I've seen a scout hut that was a house in Scotland before! I guess, depending on what you have available will cause you to adapt what you do!

    Haha. I dont know.

Is a weird phrase in one respect.

The facilities are very good. Shame they lost a chink of land. Hopefully some investment and next few years improvements will make it even better.
