Here's an interesting one - policy apparently says that only youth members may trade with youth members and only adults with adults. Anyone know the reason for this? Seems somewhat contradictory to the friendship theme by putting in this barrier...I assuem there's a logic to it just haven't heard what lol
We were told it could be that the "Head of contingents" feel that the adults know what is worth what and that there would try and flog the particepates of!

The trouble is that a few "collectors" in the past have tried ripping off younger participants, so they brought in this rule; the usual case of a few ruining it for the majority. The problem is that, often, its the adults with the badges that the participants want, and our hands are tied. You will have to resort to getting the young participants to get their Unit Leaders to negotiate on their behalf. This should, one assumes, solve the problem and not contavene the rules.![]()

or you could both agree to happen to drop a couple of badges, and accidentaly pick up the wrong ones?
I'll have to get some more badges ready - my box was emptied in one evening (!) in Sangam, India and I haven't had chance yet to get any more...
i think i have wildly underestimated the amount of stuff i need....
There's no such thing as bad weather...just the wrong clothing
i currently have:
5 scarves to swap
around 20 badges to swap
30+ name tapes ( cut up frindship ribbons) to swap
not alot more but with my next payday i might go a bit crazy again...

Are there any rules about swapping uniform shirts? As we're getting another for jambo uniform (so I'd still be in Uniform for ceremonies etc), and I'll be moving to network fairly soon after, I won't have much need of an explorer shirt afterwards (and some countries have fairly funky ones - I love the Austrian shirt - bright red, but I already have one of those lol)
i dont suppose they can stop you if its already happen! just remember this is an open forum![]()
Yeah, it's an interesting one - the main reason I ask is out of general curiousity. It occured to me that a couple of our young people look quite old for their age and could easily be mistaken for 20 something adults, sounds like it's a case that so long as everything's well natured nothing'll be said but the rule sounds like a fall back in case any advantage taking occurs.
As stated previously, should be loads of IST around to swap with anyway![]()
Loads and loads of IST and I'm sure that the bars (both A and non-A!) will be quite a gathering point. There may only be 7 in our County IST team but we all have IST badges to swap.
I would like to hear from other IST members who have County/Area/Region IST badges with a view to swapping before Hylands; always assuming I haven't already managed to get one. Mind you, I am sure other members of our Team would oblige.

our unit leader is saying that he's taking a spare shirt to swap, and is pretty much advising us to.
apparently the only rules are that you must be wearing your uniform shirt at the closing ceremony, and for leaving, so you will need to have a spare if you're swapping.
personally, i have 4 shirts ;]. my brothers both used to be explorers, and they're giving me their old shirts... if they can dig them out.
