Does anyone know of a free/pay-per-send e-mail to fax service for the UK?

All suggestions welcome!

Ross,

Can you clarify wat you are trying to do please?

Are you trying to send an email to a fax machine, or are you trying to receive faxes into your inbox, or something else?

Hmm,

TPC seem to allow what you want (I have this on my to do list too).

It won't let you send to a virtual number (0870 etc). I was able to send but was refused a message to a real number. The service is provided by Demon, who refused the message because " mail from 66.246.27.66 rejected: administrative prohibition (failed to find host name from IP address)" I'll trry now from an address on a dedicated IP...

Update - The difficulty seems to be reverse DNS on the email. Using another server I was able to do this.

The message has so far errored twice: One with an unspecified phase B transmit error and once with a no carrier error. I've used the web-fax form before OK.

Delivered with success! I'll see about getting the reverse DNS setup :)

OK, Can you get the http://www.tpc.int/faxbyemail.html page to load?

Basically what it is saying is you should be able to send a fax to something like remote-printer.Yvonne_and_Alan/[email protected]

This is a service Demon enables.

The service appears to check the validity of an email address using a reverse DNS test, which CPanel doesn't enable for various reasons. Ensim does however and I initially got two errors, caused firstly by some unknown then by the fact the software couldn't get a dialtone. On it's third attempt the fax was sent.

I'm not sure yet whether a response was received, as I sent it to work, asking them to fax back to my virtual fax number.

Hope that's clearer :)

Yes. Can I use my [email protected] address to send the faxes?

Thanks for your help anyway Jon!

No. It's a CPanel thing.

However, I could setup say [email protected] or something which would work.

BTW, My fax appeared to have been delivered soon after I sent it yesterday and was faxed back to me this morning. Email if you want me to forward it to you. The downside is the bottom 1/2 of the page has a big demon advert.

Could you set up = [email protected] for me please. That would be great!

Thank you very much
