Ok, it was brought up in the support forum recently and is something which should be of use to most, if not all, members of this site.

For reasons which nobody seems to know, the 'official' scouting font is now Frutiger, but it is not included on the CD and costs money to buy. For those of you who want the original, then http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/frutiger/ are selling it for $21.

However, as most of us dont want to pay this, and dont much like the look of Arial as a substitute, the Frobisher font (which is shareware) is available freely.

It says its a shareware demo but my very limited testing doesn't appear to have exposed anything which makes it a non-fully functional font.

edit: after using the font properly I have found that the letter 'a' has an accent above it in this version

Try using Frugal which ships with OpenOffice.org (freeware). Looks very like frutiger.

The idea is to put everuthing I design or use on the page. There should be some editions about this time next month hop[efully after my exams. Feel free to use them on your own resources pages if you want.

I've just added a new beaver funhouse clone ofnt to the scouting_fonts file.

A few notes about it are that the name doesnt appear in the font bar (in word) but is just a blank line, and that it is capitals only, but other than that it works

does anyone know of a way of getting a font that is similar to the new Network font? I have gained copies of the fonts for the other sections but can't seem to find anything that looks like the network one!

Do we really need to use the official scouting font? Who really even knows it is the scouting font?

Nobody needs to use them, but people like to, so it's better to have them available than not (you can always choose not to use them)

Fair enough.

Nice to see that I'm a senior member, I feel really proud.

Marcus,

I have just tried to download the fonts from your site and it seems like the zip is corrupt. Would you mind checking for me :)
