Wordpress K2 Scout Style

I have decided to release the K2 style for Wordpress, as previously used on my District's website.

This is not a complete Wordpress theme, you need to download K2 first.

    Installing

Download and install K2, uploading the files into wp-content/themes as usual
Download this style, unzip it, and upload the 'Scouting' folder to wp-content/themes/k2/styles/
In K2 Options, choose 'Scouting' from the list of 'Style'
That should be it, visit your site to see the style in action
This is all in one CSS file and can be used without any modifications to code. There are images included, however it works fine without them.

    I strongly recommend;

Inserting the Scout Association logo, in the normal colours, as an HTML-based widget at the top of the sidebar
Using a photograph as the 'custom header image', which you can set from within the K2 configuration. If you don't, it appears in the corporate purple with the title in white.
This will work with any number of columns set in K2 Options, and with all of the options K2 includes, including AJAX commenting, and advanced navigation.

You can download the style from matthewhiggins.org.uk/2009/10/wordpress-theme/archive/, and K2 from getk2.com

Any problems, please post in this support forum!

I've looked in your file structure, as your escouts hosted

What did you do with your default theme?

    Currently your site is white.

If you pm me a admin login I can have a look

    Okay, fixed that one.

DO NOT DELETE any default themes, Just add K2 and the Scouting element as described, activate and configure

    Safemode

    Cheers for sorting that Richard

Next minor issue is that I tried to upload an image to my new WP site and it tells me I cant as in safe mode - from what I can gather I need to ask you the host to change the permission in PHP?

I am trying to download a gallery plug in and include images in my pages.

    Thanks

I will let someone else confirm this, but I think safe mode needs to be left alone for security reasons.

May I suggest a different gallery plugin?
Wordpress has support for galleries built in, so they are embedded as parts of posts or pages. This, combined with Cleaner Gallery to make it look nicer is, in my opinion, all you need!

Safe mode disabled on the site.

Safe mode in itself is becoming a bit long in the tooth and we have security else where.

    sidebar

I know this is going to sound really dum. But how does he get all of the sidebar to works. It's all nice and neet, but when i go to add a widget to the sidebar it wipes everything. Is there a special plugin that i should have?

I'm not sure about your specific case, however I would recommend that you install the K2 Sidebar Manager Plugin.

This is slightly more powerful and easier to use than the one built in to Wordpress. It also allows you to specify which widgets appear on which pages.

Have a go using that, and let me know if you are still stuck.

Ive already tried that but it comes up with the error message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class K2SBM in /home/content/u/c/3/uc3codes/html/hosting/blaydon/wp-content/themes/k2/app/classes/sbm.php on line 26

    Safe mode

Personally i don't think it's a safe mode issue as i'm running the site on my personal website. http://beta.blaydondistrict.org.uk but it's being hosted thanks to godaddy.

This is just down to the fact that im running out of storage space on :escouts:
