    Gilwell Reunion

Whilst I believe in the Gilwell Reunion event (though would like something similar regionally), I only booked for the Saturday this year.

The new format seems sensible, but my role is mainly admin related and I've decided to head back to WY on Sunday for our Gang Show launch weekend.

I will still attend the reunion with an open mind.

I've previously been on a Sunday as the family go round the in-laws and it all tied in nicely.

My first was the centenary one which was probably a bit of an unfortunate one as your first due to it's significance but I found both Sun '07 and '08 lacking somewhat. Everything seemed to be winding down around dinner time-I understand that folk might have come a long way and want to head home but it was essentially half a day and in '08 there were several stalls that didn't open all day. I gave the info centre some feedback both years.

I've decided to try Saturday this year because a) Of seeing the reunion pictures in the 'Scouting' magazine and thinking 'I didn't see that, that or that!' and b)I kinda wondered way back when I booked it if the Chief Scout handover may have happened.

So seeing as the reunion has been looked at I'm really looking forward to it but I won't have done a saturday on a previous one to compare.

Having been in contact with the guy who organised Gilwell 24 I got a flavour of the organisation needed so hats off to those who are doing this on our behalf. Looking forward to meeting some Escouters and seeing Wayne in his pinny on the lawn-Mine's a pint of Pimms, straight glass thanks!

I forgot to mention that I also view the Reunion as my recharge of Scouting battery before getting back into the thick of things!
