    Membership Fees - What's yours?

I'm interested in how much people are paying for Membership (capitation)

Next year UK is £19.50 (£19.00)

What will your fee be including District and County/Area/Scot Region ?

If you could break it down, that would be appreciated. If you dont know next years, this years would help also

    Cheers

    £28.50
    HQ £19 (£18.60), County £5.35 (£4.35), District £3.35 (£3.25) and District campsite 80p (80p). Figures in brackets are last year's.

From April 2010 all adult training is free in our area hence the £1 increase at County level.

County is £7.20 (£7.10), I don't think District has been announced yet, but last year it was £9.30 - so it will probably be somewhere around that, will try and update this thread when I find out.

    HQ £19.50
County £8.50 all county organised training has been free since before 2004 when I joined, and has abolished day visitor charges at the county campsite for in county groups
    District £4.00

Total £32 with potential for the 50p HQ prompt payment discount.

District created its capitation fee 3-4 years ago to replace the individual levies it struggled to get all groups to pay.

Hmmm I'm not sure we have the same fees structure as the SA. We pay approx. £15 per person for membership and personal indemnity insurance. That's all. No area fees.

Where does your Region and District get money to pay for their running from then?

    Ours works out at...

    £31.20

£19.50 - HQ, £7.20 - County & £4.50 - District.... as Mike said, our county one drops to £7.10 with prompt payment, but..... our District treasurer hardly ever gets it sorted on time, and if the discount is received, I dont think we ever receive it back in the Group...

Region get its money from running its Scout Shop and outdoor activity centre. District never spent any money last year, so they felt it was unfair to charge a levy for this year when potentially they are not going to spend anything.

At risk of getting flak from people in your District, unless they have a reserve, if they are not spending money, they are not properly doing the job that a district should do.

My thoughts exactly, although our District doesn't charge a levy we hold an annual fundraising event (usually a sponsored swim) where half the money raised goes to District and half to the participants Group or Unit. Our District also owns a campsite but couldn't say if that made or cost the District money.

District is still trying to get itself established following the re-organisation, currently we only have a DC and DDC. Once we can get a district team up and running then it will spend money. The only future expense I can see is that the district have committed to buying each group the new district badge when it comes out.

Charity commission website suggests it lost £500 last year, and nearly £2000 the year before, but it was just a quick glance at the accounts so may not be that simple.
