train... the only choice for the insanely rich...

just gonna do a check of fares to newcastle in 2 weeks...

oo... cheapest option... £108... dear god... that's off peak, leaving on a friday morning and returning sunday arvo. and that is only with a v short hop across london... any further? sillier money...

if i did it in my nice comfy land rover at 25mpg i could do it for £120 and that would be door to door with the chance to carry a decent amount of gear...

trains are just insane... the moment you share a journey with a mate, car is the only option

    On the location front

I knocked together a Google map of Previous Ecamp locations, and where the ADJUSTED Middle point is, otherwise we should hold it at Gretna or Newcastle

but thats not the middle line... the line just above the previous ecamp locations is the middle...

One idea is to aim for the welsh boarder area, with a trip into Wales possibly Snowdon area on the Saturday??

Oh let me guess, you probably live about 5 minutes from there? You made your point about north yorkshire earlier.. no need to keep going on about it, especially when the map blatantly points out that it's not halfway between Edinburgh and Sussex.

If you are talking North Wales I love Rowen (not sure of the spelling but Conwy Scouts site) - it has some camping and a little bunkhouse.

Its about an hour away and can be more depending on which campsite. I was referring to the adjusted and unadjusted lines

google maps and set the search as http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/direct/c.../campsites.kml
gives a lot of sites. might be worth looking at those around where we have stayed in the past.

If that's the case I could probably pick Trev up from East Midlands airport on the way..
    Sounds like an excellant plan
