Gavin, can you live without technology like mobile phones and internet access?

We should pick a site so remote that it doesnt have any of those just to spite Gavin!

The site for the last Ecamp didn't have any technology, however we still used technology whilst at the site

Local network (ours) no problem. Mobile - only O2 seems to be reliable, but others do get reception from time to time.

Room can be found for Katie & beautiful Beanie. Not 5 star, but a comfy space.

You betcha! According to one of older son's friends, I "make the best bacon butties ever".

What am I doing to myself? Are these people serious? What will the neighbours think? 37 Cubs in the garden doing Backwoods Cooking for a couple of hours in June is one thing, but ...? What will hubby (ASL) think? (He'll love every minute, the so-and-so) Doomed, doomed ...

    Game on ...

Its fine, Ill bring my own switches and routers, ~200M of CAT5 and some RJ45 connectors, We will patch into your router and run off that, we can use a car as a booster for mobile internet if needed.

    No Internet! Maddness

It's more about the fact we need to have internet access because we're running a business where everyone involved is attending ecamp. It means we can still offer client support and fix servers if they go kaput. All that's required is a mobile network, nothing fancy.

The other side of it is a lot of the participants on the camp like to keep everyone on escouts.org.uk up to date with goings on, often related to me forgetting critical camping equipment.

Gavin, I challenge you to spend the entire weekend without using any modern technology, including computers, mobile phones, etc. - you wouldnt cope.

I know sites where you cant get a signal on your phone for toffee, and the nearest youll get to modern technology is a pay phone and an old tv!

Keith, I challenge you to help run a successful hosting company, give world class support and help maintain the largest scouting forum in the UK without the internet - you can't

We've also got to be able to provide emergency hosting support (reboots etc) to some of the 500 hosting accounts on the Escouts Server.

I dont mean everyone on the team, my little challenge is just for Gavin - the other people on the Ecamp arent included in it - they can be connected up to the Starship Enterprise if they wish! I just dont thing Gavin could keep away from it all!
