    Welcome letters

We used one in the last pack I was in regardless of the cubs origin

    My "new" pack does not

Anybody give these to new parents?

    What do they look like?

    Cheers

I did with my old scout troop (although it always changed as it was normally a modified copy of that term's "start of term" letter with a welcome paragraph at the top and a "contact details/medical info" form attached.

Even if the cub has come up from beavers at the same group there will be a lot of stuff (uniform, subs, times, rules, activities, leader's contact details) that are different and that parents will need to know. Plus its useful for parents who come half way through the term to get the info that was given out to existing parents at the start of term.

The only exception i could think of might be if there was already a sibling in the group in which case just a contact/medical details form might suffice.

You should check out Scouts-Scotland website. They've produced a welcome pack (6 page PDF) that we use. There's space for Leaders to fill out meeting times, subs, etc and space for the parent to fill in kids details.

I can't access the website just now, but it's dead easy to find!
Found it: It's in Library -> Files. Down at the bottom of the list.

We give all new Beavers a leaflet that includes info about what Beavers is, what it involves and Leaders details etc.

For Explorers they get a Unt programme which has similar if briefer details contained in it

We have just recently put together a welcome pack, which is a a small bookelt with each sections uniform, info about the grouo and meeting times on the front, church parades and all relevant contact info.

Then have all the other required forms with it .

    Welcome Pack

I have been working on my next batch of Welcome Packs this morning. It's all put into a plastic wallet which the Cub brings each week as part of their inspection kit once the letters have been removed.

    It contains:
    For the Parents:
-4 page letter/document about our Pack - uniform, subs, swimming info, camps, leaders names, badges, what we expect etc
-A form to complete with their latest contact details - you will be surprised how many people times people change their mobile and e-mails!
-a skills letter for the parents
    -gift aid declaration for signing
-a copy of the Pack programme
-a list of all the key names and contact details of our Group/Exec
    -2x CRB forms
-a Standing Order form and payment policy information
-any letters sent out about trips or camps recently

    For the Cub:
-Cub Handbook (small one with poster)
    -A green promise card
-A good turn diary (something to do in the first week)
    -A knotting rope

It goes down really well as most of the answers parents need are in the pack and it saves alot of time at the end of the meetings.

I take it you know that the CRB rules have changed recently, and a CRB can only now be processed along with either an AA or OH form?
