I have registered interest (so added myself to the mailing list) but don't know anything else about it yet. Is it just for scouts or is it for Cubs too ?

I've got the formidable task of looking after the online booking system again! And no doubt I'll be on site in some capacity.

It is Scout section only (there's a slight clue in the name), although there will be an Explorer presence in the form of a "Team X" service team.

Cub Fun Day is a separate Wales event, which happens every three years, the next therefore should be 2011.

I can answer most questions about the event if needed, and can refer easily to the core team if I don't know...

Do you want any more explorers for the service team? Ive got a bunch that are keen! They had expressed interest in joining Team X but I was under the impression it was "resting" at the moment!

Applications for the service team will be open at the relevant time. Team X training courses are on hold at the moment pending grant funding, or if we don't get the latest application, then they'll be restarted but will be chargable (the first 3 years of the project were totally grant-funded).

However, Team X existed before the training course project, and continues to do so, as a pseudo All-Wales YL unit, which all YLs in Wales are "automatically" members of, and can wear the polo shirt and necker etc.

Sorry, didn't mean it like that!

Its an issue I've seen quite a lot though - last time somebody brought a whole explorer unit as "young leaders" with their troop, and then complained that the activities weren't aimed at their age group!!!

Quite a jump in numbers on the online booking checking thingy this morning!

We are confirmed - just waiting for a reply to an email I've just sent with a few queries and a heads up as one of my Scouts has a latex/nut allergy.

Looking forward to it as it will be our Troop's first 'big' camp. Our first camp only happened 3 weekends ago. I'm trying to get them 'out' as much as I can, seems only fair after being stuck in our hall all winter!

My lot are going, we've got about 20 confirmed at the moment and we are still trying to get the others interested.

Look out for my mates Nigel & Hydren from UK Radio Scouting who will be running the radio station there. Might be talking to some of you via Ham Radio from the Beaver & Cub Fun Days at Gilwell!

Ooooh, this'll be interesting... will there be a fight for net control on Saturday morning...?

I doubt it, Peter. Since the permanent antennas at Gilwell are no longer permanent - indeed, due to the redevelopment, they are non-existant and we are likely to be operating with a long wire slung up a tree or two it is pretty likely that Wales will be the stronger station so it will probably be Nigel's chair; - that of course is certain if we are still trying to get wires up trees at Gilwell at that stage in the day!!!

1st Bridgend (Lord Roberts' Own) will be there. Our Scout Leader is 23, has got troop numbers up from 9 12 months ago to 27 last Thursday. I've just re-joined the movement after nearly 25 years away. Am looking to fill up my camp blanket, so please bring swaps to Camp.
