Thumbs up Going Home - but still Scouting.

When I was young and seeking a career in theatre, the draw of the South East was compelling. London - magical, the beating heart of world theatre! Now I am heading into my late 50s and with a heart condition which my doctor assures me is life-shortening, I cannot wait to be back where I belong close to the banks of the River Tees, safely under the shadow of the wings of the Angel of the North.

I am giving up being a weekly leader - not before time - and joining Darlington District SAS. (Not too sure about the wet suits and the inflatable Assault Craft but I'll give most things a go once.) Seriously, it will be interesting to be one of the younger members of a section rather than one of the oldest!.

I move in the next two weeks. If you want my address, please PM me.

Catch me back here after the move.

    Cheers,

My very best wishes to you for the move, Jonathan. I hope you will feel right at home from your first moment back under the wings of the Angel of the North.

Please let us know how you are getting on!

Thats because they are too busy working out what the local tipple is, where the nearest campsite is, and how they can get up to see him!!

hope the move goes well Jonathan

Rule 66. A map and compass offers no protection against getting horribly lost.

What? We have a 'local tipple'? We do have a local delicasy called a 'Parmo'.

Jonathan will be just down the road.

Here in Darlington I think I've see the sas out and about more this year than any other year! I'm sure you'll enjoy it and I'll probably see you around the districtat some point

I think Darlington has some kind of sandwich that was famous in the past. Think it was called 'the savoury' or something along those lines. I know it's still sold on the indoor market but never tried it

....And there was me believing that when scholars talked about 'The Nectar of the Gods' they were actually referring to Old Peculiar! (and if not, why not?)

You may be, like myself, a bit on the old side

    But definitely not peculiar.

Good luck with the move back home old lad

That's the S.B.S. the Darlington S.A.S. jump out of aircraft, hike across deserts and swing through embassy windows, all of which I am sure you will do with style
