or in English (:bigsmiley) you use a website to write the content for your site. So you type it in like the box for posting to escouts and then this gets added to a database which your website accesses to get the words / pictures for it. it is a powerful way to allow several leaders / anyone really to be able to put content onto the website!
what is joomla used for?
It's an easy system that lets no-teccy people (that will be me then!) do a web site like this one www.scubes.co.uk :bigsmiley

I'm currently working on a template for joomla, for our group site :D takes a while to get it right ;), but the easier way is use a template that is already made, i.e. the escouts one.

My issue is that the template has been uploaded by joomla itself and has a different user name to me. I can't modify the background image from control panel. Do I need to update the template.zip package and then upload it as a whole, or is there a way within joomla to upload template components?

Did install it using the admin panel on Joomla (via the installers menu). You should not have to change the package

I installed the template package using mydomain.org.uk/administration and logging in as the joomla admin person, rather than the site admin person.

I am assuming there is a way of uploading elements in the joomla admin panel, but I just can't seen to spot it.

Okay, its probably easiest, if you unzip the package

Changing the images etc you want to change, then zip it up in the same way calling it the same thing, and packaging it in the same way

Then uploading it

Banner problems

Hi,

I'm trying to use this template and it all appears to work except that the Scout Logo is not appearing (banner.gif). This is the only bit that doesn't appear to be there. I've not fiddled with the .css file so this is what it says.

#header {
float: left;
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
width: 802px;
height: 100px;
background: url(../images/banner.gif) no-repeat;

Banner.gif is in the images folder.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Stephen

do you use norton or similar? they sometimes block images called banner.gif (this has been seen to happen before!)

other than that make sure that the position of the css file / the index file makes sense (is the index in the 'home' directory with 'images' within that directory?)

With CMScout 2.00 close to being release I decided to take a short break from bug fixing and converted this template to work with CMScout 2.00.

Attached a screenshot of it in all its CMScout goodnesses!

Jediwannabe, Please stay on topic.
If you wish to post something on a different topic please feel free to make another thread.

As JShirra as said try to avoid using words like banners as most pop-up/add blockers will see this and block it. "headimg" or something original will be best.

I thought I was on topic, the topic is "Joomla/Mambo Scout Template" and I merely stated that I had converted the Joomla/Mambo Scout Template to CMScout. :bigsmiley Sorry....
