This isn't something I usually do but might get some thoughts going:

•Your parents thank their lucky stars for you!
•A great person was born on your birthday - YOU!
•Follow your dreams - you can be anything you want to be.
•Count on passing your next test if you study hard!
•Your parents love everything about you, but that doesn't include your messy room!
•This year school will be very interesting and fun!
    •People like your smile!
This is a great time to make a new friend

Sorry Ian but most of those will mean nothing to a six year old!! They take everything literally, can not make abstract associations and have limited vocabulary knowledge!

Hmm, yes, some six year old's are still struggling with reading, so, hmm, maybe a different approach is needed, like forfeits in pass the parcel, "jump up and down 10 times", "sit still and count to 50", "hug someone", "pretend to be an aeroplane" etc. Though it may well put them off fortune cookies for life!
