    Not sure if the theme is being supported any more (last update was a good while ago).

    Because of the timthumb issue, I've already recoded some of it (it's a bit of a hack) but once I'm done, I'll repackage it. I've got a friend coming over, paid in beer and pizza to have a look at the slider issues (it's jquery and I've had no experience of it)

    So, after 6-7hrs we managed to find the issue - it seems that for some unfathomable reason jquery & sizzle were both hardcoded into a file called compare.js. We couldn't find where it was referenced, so we, erm, just emptied the file. We'd have looked harder, but it was 2:30am. We know how to party.

    I did send an email to the scout themes person but didn't get a reply, so I'll copy it out, package it up and stick it on ukscouts.org.uk to download.

    Hi Tim,

    Did you package the updated them and make it available for download? If so, any chance of a link?

    Cheers,

    I had this issue after installing a carousel plugin. Deactivated the plugin (which I din't want anyway!) and the problem went away.

    I have implemented a fix for the TimThumb issue for this theme using the functionality of the JetPack plugin's Photon API, see: https://developer.wordpress.com/docs/photon/

    Open up:

    ../../wp-content/themes/scoutit/index.php

    On line 47 replace:

    echo '<img src="/wp-content/themes/scoutit/_/inc/timthumb.php?src='.$image_attributes[0].'&w=453&h=250" width="453" height="250" alt="'.get_the_title().'" />';

    With this:

    echo '<img src="'.$image_attributes[0].'?crop=50,50,250,453" width="453" height="250" alt="'.get_the_title().'" />';

    Job done.

    I'd also recommend turning off the JetPack option "Speed up images and photos" as this interferes with things like embedded Flickr albums.

    These themes are now over 5 years old. They were great at the time but IMHO they are dated and given they are pretty much unsupported I would not use them if I were making or updating a Scout Group website. there are loads of great free wordpress themes out there and even more if you are prepared to pay a small amount.

    Our Group website is based on a free theme which we paid a small fee extra to allow customisation of colours etc, even ours is probably 3 years old now but I think it looks more up to date in terms of design (I am aware it needs a little update of some of the content) than that and is completely mobile friendly.

    I tend to agree with you, but there are many scout websites out there using this theme. As I was solving a problem affecting two such sites, and quickly trying to launch a much needed update for another, I thought it useful to post this fix so others wouldn't need to dig around. I'm sure I'll migrate all 3 to a new theme in the future when I have the chance.
