Previous camps have taken place around the Derbyshire / Mansfield areas.

I'd suggest our district site in Leeds (I could certainly secure a booking lol) but it depends what activities we want to do. Its great for backwoods type stuff but has no internet access and apart from low level walking most activities would have to be driven to.

What you want to do is get a list of persons that would be interested and the postcode of their unit HQ then find the center of gravity of all the participants and then find a site near the center of gravity, thus making it central for the vast majority of participants.

I agree - Leeds is a little too far north for a lot I'm sure.

Good idea. Only for UK based Scouters though - if Doug wanted to come to Ecamp ... !!!

Anything that would help people that want to go to get there would be good.

Sadly there is a google map in existance, it highlights the general area that is acceptable, it seems. North England, South England, Scotland, Wales and NI and Ireland are simply out of scope!!

I would have to reccomend my local activity centre (great tower) but it way to far 'upt north' it is based in the amazing setting of Windermere!

Course, there is no rule to say it has to be a UK camp, if more regional ones were more practical, and had more chance of success..........

That would be a good idea. Hold 3 or 4 camps in different parts of the country (but open to anyone who was willing to travel). Wouldn't necessarily need to be at the same time.

Course the problem with my idea, is for example the last one was arranged in North Wales, it wasnt that far from the centre of things, and it got called off, of course I have little sympathy for people complaining about driving an hour or so since I'm driving from just south of Edinburgh.

    So we need
    - someone to organise
    - Agree a date
    - Get deposits
