Why did you choose the group you are with ?

    Just wondered really.

Mines easy as my daughter's group was in need of leaders so I happily volunteered.
Nothing special just ABSL, but I've only been back for five minutes
Might as well use the knowledge I have gained and share it with a new generation..

** Warning ** I like my humour Very DRY, same as my Martinis, so don't take anything personally..

My original group I joined 17 ish years ago as a Beaver Scout because my auntie knew the leaders. When I was in Scouts I transferred to my current group because one of my "friends" from school went there.

Been in three Groups as moved about a bit. Always joined the local one. That worked well for me each time, not that the Groups are the same now as they were. its good I think that its a Group in your local community.

My son (and then my daughter) joined as Beavers and I volunteered to help. Started on Exec, then Group Fundraiser, then Chairman, then SL and now SL plus acting GSL. How did that happen

It's not the nearest Group to us but one of friends had their son in the Beavers.
In between roles/helping out where I can......

home group, group I went right through
ASU role, caus I'm mad and is fun, also district owned site.
uni group, closest group, when I was in halls.

Rule 66. A map and compass offers no protection against getting horribly lost.

I was only available on a particular night and wanted to do Cubs after moving home. Found a local group to where I was. After a couple of weeks I was told I was no longer needed (there were 6 leaders and only 5 Cubs - the pack was closed a couple of years later). I then moved to do Cubs at Nanpantan where leaders were needed and the numbers needed to grow. It was a little bit further to go, but worth it. After a few years I managed to grow the section. I left to do a stint in district for a while. After taking paternity leave (she'll be one in a weeks time - scary!), I was asked if I would take on GSL at my old group - on my return it was great to see some of the Cubs I had are now actually section leaders in the group - how brilliant is that!
