    emails where are they?

Where do you find received e-mails (without using Outlook/Outlook Express). You must be able to see them somewhere. Any one know?

OK I'll answer my own question

E-mails are encrypted and without OE or Outlook no chance

If you're using windows xp, try looking in documents & settings, application data etc.... You'll find the outlook files there....which are as you say, the emails are encrypted and mashed into one file (Handy to know when you want to backup all your emails, address book etc in one go).

You can use PHP to receive/open emails, as well as send them. If this is what you want to do, just contact me and i'll try and help (it took a bit of doing the first time I did it).

    Thanks Richard,
It was one of the PC's at work (well mine!) OE declines to open and there was a e-mail I needed. Sorted the problem but lost all my e-mails but I managed to get the e-mail re-sent

    Cheers

Couldn't you get the outlook express inbox file from the directory I suggested, copy it to another computer, and then open it using outlook express? Then you should get all your emails back in theory..

I seem to think there are some freeware packages out there which can extract info from the files created by OE, but it is some while since I broke mine (I use IMAP now which means that mail is accessible from whichever computer I happen to be working on...)

I think if you install thunderbird you can extract the files

I've no idea how I did it but I've got a folder called outlook inbox with lots of old mails in
