You are not getting it cooked correctly. Nowt wrong with a bit of cabage, cooked just right with some bacon and butter, or... pickled and served with pork.

Is it racist if I said "stereotypical scotsman reply"?

Actually sprouts are changing. They did a program on telly about selective breeding of sprouts and they are throwing a lot of effort into it.

I can see nothing positive coming from this endeavour except perhaps a more powerful sprout, which is something no one wants.

When in Scouts, I organised three District Camps - no biggies, except they were the only three in 20 years. They all had one thing in common. After the event, people who played no part in making them happen save turning up, felt that they should be critical. I tolerated it because it was for the greater good - not that it got me anywhere.

Now, once again, after a huge success of an event, I find exactly the same scenario developing. To coin a phraae, I'm getting too old for that ****. The critic has just nominated themselves for the planning role... it seems that they are not very happy about that. Quelle surprise!

Situation normal Bushy. You get people that organise stuff, and you get people that moan about stuff. The intersection between them on the Venn diagram is very small. And the moaners seem to have no awareness of how what they say comes across.

I used to be in a work sports and social committee, and we'd organise various parties, Christmas and otherwise, and we always had people who seemed to almost take pleasure in picking fault with stuff, a vegetarian moaning about their option being goats cheese as per usual. Well, yes, but you were given the menu before hand and chose to come, and I can't do anything about it...so why not just keep it to yourself instead of making me wonder why I bothered? And it's worse when they've actually got a point, but when they complain the party is so far away it's inconvenient, so you have the next one close, and the food is crap because it's a local golf club and not some swanky west end place.

Basically, a brief consideration of the complaint, does it have any merit? Yes or no. Adapt or not adapt future plans. Next!

There will always be something wrong whatever you do, and that's on them, that's just the way they're wired. Really, they have my pity, I mean, imagine going through life and in every situation you find something wrong with it? Instead of making the best of it?

    Something something illegitimate carborundum.

We had a Leader who took great delight in whispering in the DC's ear about how rubbish everyone else was. He would volunteer himself for their job 'cos he could do it sooooo much better.

He became ADCS, NAA, producer of the District Gang Show etc, etc.

Once he had the job he never turned up to anything and disappeared into the darkness, blaming everyone else. Thankfully he's gone, but it's taken a few years to start to get the spirit back.

Two completely never-seen-before faces at our AGM last night.

I nearly fell off my chair.

Was one a representative from District?
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?

This has been a year to forget. One kid excluded, another suspended, one reported to the Police. Three kids refused membership.

Has also been a year to remember - Membership increased, Juniors established, kids passing their Star tests for kayaking, an international that visited six countries, a lead role in Light Up The Woods, asked to help at Christmas Light Switch on 2019...

As long as the good keep outperforming the bad we carry on...
