    Theme Park Camp 2006

If anyone out there has been before, post here and tell everyone how good/bad/indifferent it was! It's our 5th birthday this year, and it's going to be super cool!

Come to the Theme Park Camp. An annual national weekend camp for Explorer Units and Scout Network. It is held in Surrey from 8th to 10th September 2006.

Spend all day Saturday at Thorpe Park: ride Stealth - the brand-new 0-80mph in 2.3 seconds, 205ft vertical roller-coaster, get in a spin with Colossus, feel the heat of Nemesis:Inferno, get soggy on Tidal Wave and have a go on a whole host of other splashing, spinning and swinging things (or take a nice quiet boat trip and visit the farm). In the evenings there will be discos, fancy dress, giant party games, karaoke and campfires.

For more information please e-mail [email protected]

Or check out the website http://www.summitnetwork.org.uk/tpc for more information.

    Would we?

Seriously though, there were 350 of us last year, and we're not all in matching t-shirts or scout uniform or anything, so we disappear into the crowd really. You might notice the camp organisers, as we all wear our Summit t-shirts, have a look at the gallery for last year.

Apparently the Saturday we went last year, there were 7000 people in the park, so it was 5% Theme Park Camp!

Going to take the weekend off then...and go to Thorpe Park?

we have been looking for a summer camp for the explorers, and although i have seen the website for before i just never thought of whilst we where looking camps, traditionly out summer camp has always been an international one. weather it be abroad or to somwhere like sherwood internatinal or poacher.

We where a bit upset this year because we have been unable to organise a camp, that many other things going on in the group, leaders going new ones coming etc...

If theres still places il recomend the camp for our explorers, there should be about 4 or 5 of us.

It seems like a good idea and is a chance ofr a summer camp. I shall ask my unit if they want to go. Anyone know when the closing date for bookings is?

    Yes there are still places

and the booking deadline is 26th August....BUT there seems to be an even bigger buzz about Theme Park Camp this year than last, we can only accomodate 350-ish people, and last year we turned people away, as we were full by some time around the booking deadline, and people still try and book with a week to go (grrr! ).

So my advice is don't leave your booking until the last minute, and I'll see you in September!
