    A positive thread - I hope.

I may give the impression of only being happy when having a small moan or an all out argument but I do like good news for others as well as personally.

So here's the challenge to all How long can we keep a thread of good news/positive thoughts going?

    To set the ball rolling:

As part of the AAC I helped to interview a new BSL & ABSL. They were young(er than me anyway); prepared to train (had actually started some bits); had an idea of what they were letting themselves in for; supported the Scouting ethos; were planning to work as a part of a team and knew they had a lot to learn.

I went home afterwards feeling re-energised, and very pleased that we (Scouting) are recruiting people like these two.

    Two things:
    1) We just had a really good adult training weekend, at De Kluis, our outdoor camping weekend, when we look at campsite selection, pioneering, cooking on fires, axes knife & saw, etc etc Great fun for everyone involved, and we trainers always coming back having learned something too.
    2) Over the last few weeks we have managed to recruit several parents to help in the exec and also several new adult leaders/helpers from parents and others.

Had a new member enquiry today despite them getting the wrong country! They emailed our twin group in Canada with the same name who happily bounced it to us.

    Two from me:

    1) Organised a county explorer event, despite thinking it would be a disaster because I've been really ill and had to do it all last minute, it was a roaring success. You can read about it in Wayne's blog
    2) Got offered a sort of role that I can do sat in front of a computer. Sounds silly but when your legs stop working it's hard to see yourself as a valuable contribution to Scouting. However, the constant pinging from my computer all evening is testament to the fact that there is something for everyone.

Happy thoughts from me at the moment

Our issue over pool access seems to have been resolved. The pool are even looking into funding for us to see if we can reduce the costs to our paddlers.

I got 100% sign-up for camp this weekend

It'll be the first time for our troop 'hammocking' in the woods. And the forecast is good. And 3 of my kids will get their bronze dragon award.
