    Update:

    group exec last night.

Leaders are thoroughly hacked off with the new DBS process that requires days of waiting around (more than the promised 5 working days) before names appear on the system.

I feel bad. I want them to be happy. Instead they are angry.

It is not as easy to look after angry leaders.

    update:

DBS are now working quite well and leaders are seeing them returned in a reasonable amount of time.

we've essentially been without them for 12 months. It's piddle poor when a return to the status quo is a big success.

    update:

I added somebody to the system last Thursday and we agreed to meet tonight to do the DBS part of the process

he has not yet appeared on Atlantic so we'll postpone.

This system is not a return to the status quo, it is rather poor compared to what we had.

    We have reports.

They don't seem to be correct.

What is worse. No reports or wrong reports?

Spoke to HQ. There were import errors back at end 2014. These are fixable manually if you telephone them and can be cross checked against a correct database.

    Sigh.

    census time...

all the ethnicity and religious data (plus that stupid nationality question) is tied up in compass....

not terribly keen on asking it again. I hate the way compass makes me look incompetent.

579.34 that is how much i have paid to OSM so far this academic year for 2 terms' subs and a few small events... by the end of the year, it will be over 1,000, i reckon.

That does not include the fees to GoCardless. That is only OSM.

There are some serious financial costs locally to the failure of compass that was due to have payment facilities pretty much immediately after launch (that is why i wasted so much time trying to get compass working.)

Maybe there would have been similar costs for using compass... i don't know... but i suspect you would have negotiated a better deal from payment processors and not charged as much for each payment.

So, Compass is now a system for managing adults and their training - jolly good. we need that

i was learning how to validate training last night and it turns out that there is no way of recording how training has been validated on compass so every adult also needs an offline record with the exact same data as compass but with one extra field per validation.

Does anybody at Gilwell care? volunteer time is being wasted again and again and again by this appalling system.
