    New DBS process

    Hi,

Just asking if anyone has had a NEW person added to the Atlantic DBS system yet? and if so how long did it take?

I put my request through last Thursday onto the add new adult and no sign yet.

Ditto - still to hear back. I tried to log on tonight and it said I had to change my password. I tried to change it and it wouldn't accept it - nor would it let me use the old one. I'm now frozen out and have to contact the powers that be. Tell you what - I won't bother. I've put up with all that Compass threw at me but all my good will is now all used up. Someone can do the e-dbs but it won't be me. They've finally ground me down.

They are saying up to 2 weeks from being entered as there is a backlog and they are being keyed across manually it seems

    2 weeks?

Of course. How anybody could have predicted that after a 6 month delay, there might just be a significant backlog of people adding new adults. I have seen on other threads that Easter camps might be in trouble cos of the delay.

I suspect there may be loads of DBS checked adults who would volunteer to help clear the backlog, including me...... but don't hold you breath, they would rather see us and the kids suffer. Is Anything about the whole Compass debacle any good???

We have several Volunteers for our next camp. A New Chairman and secretary ( its AGM season after all!) to check. hay ho.

A really valid point Andy - the lack of respect they have shown for volunteers and the time we have had to give for both Compass and e-dbs is breathtaking. I spent hours on Compass to be ready for a 2015 census that I knew was going to be paper based, and then had to do it all again on paper and now e-dbs. I am so close to losing an ACSL because of this. Waste of time, followed by waste of time. Disgrace - but they simply don't care

I am, and remain, shocked by how badly managed this entire thing has been from start to finish. And it *is*, I know for a fact, costing us volunteers.

Do we perhaps even need to consider full outsourcing of these HR processes (as is basically what they are) to a competent supplier?

But *not* on the cheap. We may all have to be willing to pay for quality.

It is all down to poor management, which failed to see that the management of adult volunteer data was by far the most important function of MMS and Compass. Many of us said from the outset that they should put all effort into getting this right before considering anything else. By focusing on getting the census done on Compass at any cost, they completely missed that fact that the processing of DBSs, as well as induction and training processes and records of volunteers was being trashed. It's a hole that just keeps getting deeper.

    As Niel says email HQ.

We had a recruitment session at a group the other week and a number of adults came forward and all completed the 6 page form.

The ADC Beavers who was a lead at this session added the new adults last week and has had an email to say they are in Atlantic.

The downside is that as ADC Beavers she cannot see these people in that site as she doesn't have a role in that Group.

So we are now waiting for HQ to add her to the group so she can deal with it. Email as they wouldn't do it over the phone.

I added a new adult (Group Occasional Helper) on 26th Feb and still cannot see them on Atlantic. I phoned SA helpdesk and they say the record is set to 'disclosure pending' on Compass and I should now be able to process the DBS. When I said I could not see them on Atlantic I was advised that I probably did not have permission as a Section Leader and it would need to be done by GSL. I checked with GSL and District Appointments sec and they cannot see it either. I am beginning to lose all faith in the Scout Association's IT ability.

Has anyone on this forum actually managed to do a DBS check via this new process?

Just got this back as automated e-mail

"Thank you for contacting the Appointments and Membership Team.

We are working on responding to your email. With Compass now available, the number of enquiries we are receiving has increased significantly which has meant that we are not replying as speedily as we would like, for which we apologise.

If you have an urgent enquiry, you may find it quicker to phone."
