I would not describe Compass as "quite intuitive to use."

I am glad that there was information on EScouts about it when I finally got to use it as that helped quite a lot.

i do not look for training when i use any new system. It works.

if it doesn't, i find a new one.

Help guides are good but any user logging into compass should be able to crack straight on.

if i need ot be trained in a scout hall for hours just to manage some adults, they have failed. again.
I don't expect training for everybody. My request to Wayne Bulpitt was how do we develop Compass Champions so they can support all users, as TSA suggest. If as a Compass Champion I am seen as a central point to help users, I know what I can see and do but the user won't have same access rights.
For example, I need to know what a cub leader sees and more importantly, who is next in the chain when they do some action. With the previous test system we could log on as different users and see what the next stages were, especially references/training/appointments process.
Without a test system to see, what detailed data flow charts will be available? The live system with its restricted access will not provide the answers. And if it has little changed to last time, so what, hardly anybody used the broken system before. I wonder if they still insist on listing people by first name/surname, really useful if you don't know a person's legal name.

So no test system - clearly stated that we don't need, and won't get, any chance to see system before it goes live and therefore the intuitive system will be easy to follow and users will pick it up easily based on previous usage. Last time we had no data flow documentation, so had no idea who did what and when. The appointments process was crazy as the person adding the adult sent out the references with no control over how or when the appointment secretaries saw the email or reply. All lists of people were in order of their forename not surname. No indication how training saw the info or updated system. No indication of any line manager approval. I think my assistance as Champion will be challenging!!

After the debacle of the last 18 months, 'trust us it'll be OK' doesn't really cut it.

The original training system is still live. It looks just like the real thing ;-)

Then for your sanity and wellbeing I would urge you to consider why you want to keep that role? In 3/6/12 months time do you see this being a roaring success and Scouting being improved by it? Being a martry won't help anyone long term (and all the thankless effort from those Compass Champions who bravely (naively?) towed the party line last time, or genuinely ploughed hundreds of hours into helping people, ultimately went into the bin despite their efforts).

Think of all the things that could be done instead which will actually deliver benefits to Young People?

Sorry. I'm being the voice of bitter experience after previously investing many hours into well-intentioned HQ schemes that lost their way. But in the cold light of day it's the activities for the YP that matter, not spending your winter evenings convincing adults to use another botched IT system.

But my allegiance is to my County team, and if I packed it in then some other poor soul would be dropped in it. I really want Compass to work otherwise we have no leader records and that would have knock on effect on running the groups.

Champions are invited to webinars and HQ say they still have a place but the role certainly seems to have been severely diluted and ignored.

If Compass comes back with the same web interface and only security issues address then I will feel let down and bitterly disappointed.

The interface is not great by any means but was just about workable for Adult stuff at least, what I will be really pissed off with is if they still have the permissions screwed up so people still can't see the details of who else is in their Group or Section even. If they do that then i have no idea what the hell they have spent the last year doing unless the security problem was so fundamental in the design of the system

Why? You should know by now, having read various responses, that's exactly what's going to happen. It's getting a resigned shrug, at best, from me. No point wasting emotional energy on it.

My understanding is that it was.
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?
