    Duty to queen

    Hello Wayne

I know your leaving soon, but I am wondering if there is scope at some point to make the 'duty to the queen' part of the oath optional and replace it with 'duty to country' or something similar. As it stands it is possible to be leader of the opposition and possibly prime minister and be a republican, but not a scout leader.

We consulted on this at the same time as we considered "duty to God" and there was minimal interest from members in changing, so I suspect it will be some time before we consult again on the subject.

As has been pointed out in the "related question" thread, there is no rule preventing republicans being a member and I know that many are.
