15 years ago this year Escouts was born !!!!
When I registered the 1st web address, hosting was full of adverts, Scoutbase was around and well Scouting hadnt really taken off on the web at all.
Websites were not common place, and The Scout Association destroyed forrests, and then some, support its Leaders........
So the general consensus is that we celebrate this momentous occasion by having our 4th Escouts Ecamp, around Alton Towers area. Not that we have to go to Alton Towers, but as Im almost 4 stone lighter, I should fit into the rides

The Camp is only open to those aged 18 or above.
Open to suggestions for Camp sites or Scout Halls, within reasonable distance of Resturaunts and Pubs! As I said, it needs to be Central England. North Wales got cancelled, and I cant see many driving North to me near Edinburgh!! Also Gavin has defected to England, so from a Escouts Team point of view Central England is the most practical.

Willesley would make sense from a motorway access point of view. close to the m1 and right by the a42 so good links to the m6 and m5
Not too far to walk to pubs in Ashby, Measham or the villages

What about rail links for those without transport

Rough Close Coventry is slightly better situated for rail links (walkable from tile Hill) and is still fairly good motorway wise (on the A45 between the M6 and the M45)
The oaks in Charnwood or John's Lee wood are both fairly close to Loughborough station (and on the M1) although not really walkable with kit...
If you want to go further north to make it easier for the Scottish memebers linnet clough in Marple is accessible by rail out of Manchester as well as from the M6 and M62
Hi
I'm keen to get a date as soon as possible, so people can put a date in their diary. I have deleted the options of the dates that simply wont work based on the numbers.
If you havent added your name, if you could follow this link http://doodle.com/poll/zsgahva9738hprf6 and we'll announce a date at the weekend

None of the dates coincide with my holidays so I haven't answered the poll. Would love to come along though. Once a date is decided I will try to get the weekend off if I can (I work retail so have to work more often than not at weekends).

depending on the dates, if there are people travelling up from the SW who dont have transport i live near Bristol Parkway and would be happy to meet people there and provide lifts up to a venue in the midlands (i have a 7 seat car, or if enough people interested in sharing travel from the west country access to a group minibus) Equally id have no issue swinging in via Leicester or Loughborough station on the way to site and the way home.
im guessing there are other people from elsewhere in the country who would be willing to make a similar offer so being few miles out from a station might not be that big a problem?
just need to see what the pink-pass situation is once a date is set!!

As suggested, the area is not well supported for rail links, although Burton on Trent is not too far

looking at Willesley, east mids, loughborough, leicester, burton, nuneaton and tamworth all seem not too far out. not sure where the stations in burton, nuneaton or tamworth are but leicester is the wrong side of town really... loughborough isnt too bad though.
oaks is a nice site and probably the closest to a station (guess you could get a bus to shepshed and walk)... no pubs in easy staggering distance though?
johns lee could be done by bus from leicester to markfield (or newtown linford) and is fairly close to both The Bradgate and The Field Head Inn. all three have both indoor and camping accommodation. JLW and Oaks are both about 10 minutes from J22 of the M1 while Willesley is on the A42.

The date of Escouts 15th Anniversary Ecamp has been confirmed as:
Fri 07/10 – Sun 09/10 / 2016
This is simply the most popular dates, Jonathan can say hi by Skype if he cant make it
Further discussion of venues will be continued on this thread.
From that, in say a week, I'll draw up options, then look at booking.
Thanks

In principal I can make the date and have put it in the diary... however I know theres a big event going to be happening in October that I don't yet have a date for which might have to take priority!
