Where can I buy a free standing indoor flag pole

    Hello,

I am writing on behalf of a friend who is starting a new Scout troop in Bristol. They meet in a church and don't have the facility to have a permanent fixture for a flag.

She is looking to buy a free standing flag pole which can be used indoors and be able to raise and lower the flag during each meeting.

Does anyone know if these exist? We have been looking online but have not found anything yet.

    Many thanks

    Luke

    Make one?

Ours is quite literally a long piece of dowel (about an inch diameter) stuck in a base with an eyelet at the top, and a hook further down with a rope.

Get a Christmas tree base, or even just a round of tree and some dowel. Should take a bout 10 mins to knock up....

Better yet, get scouts to design and build one

Thinking outside the box slightly - is there anything in the hall they could repurpose. For example, at one group I used to be a leader at we used to throw a rope over a ceiling beam each week. At another we used some sports climbing aparatus.

Secondly, have they tried asking the church for permission to put something up? A simple pulley fixed to the wall would be unobtrusive for the rest of the week and I cannot see why a church would be likely to have an issue with it?

It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves

How about a portable basketball hoop? Then you could play basketball in church too

Like this, but indoors you probably wouldn't even need the water ballast at the bottom.

Cubs don't care how much you know, but they need to know how much you care.

We have same issue. We use a small tree round / section from a tree trunk with a hole drilled in it. Works well.

We also don’t have something like this. I looked for it in some shops but didn’t find it even online…

We bought one of these in white https://www.bannerbox.co.uk/indoor-d...door-flagpoles

(We also meet in a building that we do not own).

Make sure that you order a base as well as a pole...
