No. They've used the old "commercial confidentiality" excuse.

A pathetic attempt to cover up things that they don't want us to know.

Sadly, it usually works (cf my other hobby horse about World Jamborees).

Knowing the County Secretary in question fairly well that sounds about right to me

Presumably this was part of some settlement with the company otherwise this should have been known earlier and the promises to release not been issued.
Highlights of report were released I believe so it must have been signed off. Promises to release in full were issued at that time, so ?

It was never going to be released - way too embarrassing.

It's difficult to see how they could release it, we can draw some assumptions. TSA claim they've paid no more money to sort Compass, the reputational damage is harder to assess. What we could guess is that child data was removed from the requirement as a QPQ for the suppliers getting the leader bit working free of charge.

I work for a company that would not allow a team which made this level of **** up to continue. They'd be replaced because, 1) they were proved not to be capable, 2) The customers whose money and/or time has been wasted want to see that you're taking it seriously. 3) You need new ideas.

Blame ? I have heard there was a debate on the steering committee about whether the tool should be delayed and do an incremental release, which was the original plan before delays forced a "big bang" roll out which was a disaster. Assuming those meetings were minuted then those who overruled the expert advice (which was to delay), should not have been allowed to continue until the end of their tenure.

In passing I'm amused that my expression which could be better written as "Male chicken, followed by the opposite of down" has been starred out !

Incremental releases using something like Scrum is exactly what they should have done.

it was never going to get released and i fail to see why so many people held out hoping it would be for so long.

the naivety of some who were seeking blame to be apportioned or to see someone 'fall on their sword' and admit a mistake is mind-boggling.

on another point: my DC (or anyone in a district role) is never wrong. i accept that. i simply get on with scouting life. the day i don't wish to accept it; i leave.

time to move on people and just accept that no one was at fault and no mistakes were made.

Being technical and talking about SCRUM or sprints doesn't ever help talking to "senior management". It needs couching in terms like "Huge risk of untested software being released to 500,000 entries". I have no idea what was said but I believe that expert advice was given and ignored.

    that figure is uber conservative...

each child had an account, as did each leader = 500,000

then each parent had to have a login for it to work too... so that would be what? another half a million?

add in the OHs and i guess we must be steaming past 2million and not stopping.

    ...

if the system worked as intended, we would be running events by the system so whitsun weekend when half the groups in the country are away on camp, we would have all the parents logging in and using compass...

the system fell over with 100 users.
