Last night, (our last for a couple weeks for Easter), we delivered jumble sale flyers round the village, the cubs did half on Monday, we finished it off. Meanwhile, back at the hall, other leaders got a fire going so on returning, scouts could poke it... And make s'mores...

Final few words about our weekend away a week today... Mention made of it being the last night as Scouts for our PL's, who will be returning as Explorers or a senior patrol - or however they wanted to regard it.

Still couldn't pin down a menu for the weekend from them, beyond 'no tomatoes'.

Went for a walk in the woods in the rain, finished in the dark. Everyone wet and happy. "Better than sitting playing video games", was the quote of the night.

We went bowling. I won in our lane due to “not being as wrong as the rest of us”.

Two years ago we turned up 30 minutes early for our booked bowling. But they had two lanes out. So we could not start at 19:30 - our booked time. Eventually the fourth lane opened at 20:30 and we had paid for two games. I was not happy.

This time my 18 year old has got himself a girlfriend, also 18. (They net at Explorers.). Coincidentally she works there. She organised most of the night and was liaison.

This year we booked for 19:30. But 19:25 we had 90% of the Scouts arrived and three teams were already playing. I let the four start dead on 19:30 (the last Scout arrived at 19:45 - 30 minutes late.). So we ended up with 45 minutes to kill after they had finished. They amused themselves in the arcades.

I had one person approach me and asked if I was the leader. Heart sinking moment. But it was just the chair of the local branch of RNLI wanting to make contact.

Plus we have entered into Jambowlree. We are not going to win anything. We were just after having fun.

so, you went for the higher number on the badge order and need to make sure sales don't dry up?

    Frying pan pizza pie https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/...-pan-pizza-pie

Used red pesto and pre-grated mozzarella. Seemed to work well.

That’s the one. I wondered if you would get the bottom of my rambling post and spot it. You passed.

Thanks for sorting out the badges.

I wish I had entered our Scouts into Jambowlree after I scored 193 when we went bowling at Feb Half Term (at least 50 more than I have ever scored before). I mean I assume there is a Leaders section right Ian

How to deflate me. We had a Leaders Lane. I won with 78 points.

I fear our troop are heading for the wooden spoon award.

It's the taking part that counts. And your scouts realised there's other scouts all over the world, because they're in the same competition as them.

I must admit, standing on the shoulders of giants, but Jambowlree appears to be one of my better ideas.

They were happy just to go bowling. I will making more scouty and introduce other ideas through the map and looking at other places once we have all those details.

Egg throwing to a partner last night one step back each time you catch the egg until the egg is dropped or broken and a prize for the longest throwing pair
And then an easter egg hunt organised by the PLs Patrols hunting outside in the dark to find paper origami eggs to exchange for chocolate at the end of the evening. with SPOT prizes for special eggs. Only one scout worked out the eggs with the black spot on were the special eggs ?

This week we went to the local dry ski slope - it was a request from the Scouts at the last Troop Forum so we did it at the end of term allowing those parents who did not want to pay or were worried about children getting injured not to send them. We had 18 out of 21 with 11 of them novices who had a 90 minute instruction and did really well. The other 7 had skied before and were soon whizzing down the main slope and scaring the (non-skiing) leaders!
