In response to clear feedback from the Troop, we have cancelled tomorrow's plans and offered them the chance to watch England v Belgium - #youthshapedscouting

District Cardboard Canoe Competition. It was good fun. There were a lot of smiles. Other troops had better designs and builds than our troop. But it is a good laugh. #skillsforlife

    For developing knife skills...

Camp fire Pot hangers are do-able.

You need to source a number of specific bits of wood, but our younger scouts (who occasionally struggle with not having strong enough hands) managed to do these quite well. I can't find a decent picture or video, which is odd, because I found it online via Google...

You probably know what I'm talking about... Upside down V with one leg cut short. You cut a notch at the bottom of the longer leg. You have your ridge poll over the fire supported by tripods at either end and you hang your pot over the fire with the wire handle in the notch you cut and the ridge in the crotch of your upside down V.

Or something. I know what I mean...

I want to go back, same with Brownies... taking more of a back seat... but finding loads of time to plan when shes sleeping (its better than watching tipping point) It also means she gets quality time with just Daddy as shes with me all day!

Just be aware, the moment you start banking on them sleeping, they change their sleeping pattern.

So, when are you going to give the Scouts an opportunity to change her nappy? #SkillsForLife

no battle plan survives contact with the enemy...

this is also true for planning for scouts

it is also true about parenthood (we are nearly 2 years into our new warzone!)
