The account is with Tapatalk, you manage your email settings using the link at the bottom of the email, I've logged into the Escouts and Tapatalk panel, its not something we can control, think its just working now since the move!

Well we visited that dogs breakfast a few years ago, and it was so bad we reverted to this version, so I dont have much faith, ultimately, where we go next needs to be considered carefully.

Sorry I meant the ads in Tapatalk. I use Tapatalk but since the upgrade I now get adverts everywhere. In the Tapatalk Control Panel yur end you need to turn Ads 'off'.

    Truly horrific product.

I think it is an understatement to say that Escouts has significant technical debt. It's something I think Bloory and I will be looking at some technical investment shortly.

If you are reading this, congratulations, your ISP has picked up our new DNS!We had to do a bit of an emergency lift and shift this morning to a new environment. The good news is that we managed to spin up a load balanced cloud environment in a matter of hours!

It's a few years since I used puppet and chef.... but the additional infra you'd need is minimal. Unless you have 10's of servers you'd probably get away with the free hosting providers for the "master" part of it.

The overhead is minimal, certainly wouldn't add in more servers until you hit 100's of machines being managed.

Or look at Salt and Ansible, that are completely server-less.....

If it's something you *do* want to think about, I'd be happy to help. But I'd have to de-rust my skills a little

Since the second downtime I am getting periodic 520 errors. Probably had it happen 10 to 15 times in the last few days

That's a pretty generic error code, but I'll watch for any drops.

Screenshot of the 520 error in case it helps. The site pretty much always works again after a few seconds or a minute at most so its evidently just dropping out for very short periods.
