    Scouts to Explorers badge

For the past 5 years we have purchased our badges from a local stockist. We received the Scouts to Explorers 'Moving On' badge without question as being a rectangle badge with blue edging, blue background and yellow writing. But when I purchased from Glasgow Scoutshop, we got a blue background with green edging and white writing, which is exactly what is on the Scouts web site.

So has the badge changed? I had a look at the Explorers to Network badge and it is similar but appears to have a purple edging. Have we been giving out the wrong badge for the past 5 years?

    It looks like it.

The Scouts to Explorers MOA is green edging, blue background and white writing.

The Explorers to Network MOA is blue (or purple?) edging, blue background and yellow writing.

Two more badges I've never issued in 15 years of explorer scouts. I'm a terrible ESL.

Actually, as an ESL you'd only award the Explorers to Network MOA. It's the SL's job to award the Scouts to Explorers one.

Don't your YPs like badges then?

The badge requirements do not say whether it should be the SL or the ESL awarding the moving on badge. It's OK to work out an arrangement between the sections.

I seem to have the worst of both worlds. The Cubs moving up to scouts get awarded a moving on badge by me at investiture. The scouts moving up to explorers get awarded their moving on award after linking with explorers etc, again by me as SL.

They get the standard ones, then the staged ones if they're lucky. Whether they like badges or not is irrelevant.

In the early days of Explorers, we were getting the Diamond CSA (which is sort of platinum coloured) confused with the Platinum CSA (which is gold coloured), easily done.
