Mess Tent - tried to fly

Our Mess Tent decided to try and fly last week, it only managed to get about 5 meters but the landing was not very good.
So we now have a mess tent with about 6 bent poles.
The bag that the mess tent canvas is packed in say 'COTSWOLD ESSENTIAL OUTDOOR' on it and the telephone number (01285), we have tried the telephone number and it is no longer in use, also tried Cotswold Outdoor just in case, but no luck.

Anyone have any ideas if the company is still around under another name, or if we just need to go at a local engineering company and see what they can do

    it's cotswold outdoor!

iirc, when cotswold was established back in the 70s it was run out of a garage down by the cotswold water park. as it developed it had two branches, cotswold essential outdoors and cotswold camping. the company is now simply cotswold outdoor and is a trading brand of AS adventure group.

i would suggest you ring malmesbury.

however, i suspect the model is out of date and there are no spares.

    how old is it?

Is it just the straight poles that are bent - no damage to the corner joints?

Mess tent poles are usually steel pipe (painted or galvanised) - with a reduced diameter end to joint into the next pole

    So I see several alternatives
    a) Cheap - Ask other groups if they have any redundant poles from an old mess tent / bell tents - if necessary cut them down to the right length with an angle grinder
    b) Cheap - Apply heat with a blowlamp and straighten the poles with aid from a metalworking vice and a pair of thick gloves
    c) Expensive - buy new poles from Scout Shops - http://shop.scouts.org.uk/p-2556-mes...-leg-pole.aspx - 10.25 each

If you were a bit nearer I've got some poles that might suit option a)

I am sure I posted a name and address on here some years ago - the manufacturer who sold spares.
