The power of media over fact. Fake news rules.
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?

This happens every year... it was a tree in wales that won last year and the people behind the winning tree were on Radio2 around the time of the announcement.....

Why not? Buildings win awards. Beaches win awards. Towns win awards. Flowers win awards. Why not trees? In a way it's really a way of shining a light on an interesting story, or a bit of history, and promoting the work of the woodland trust. If it makes a few people more interested in the natural world around them, that's no bad thing. A bit more appreciation for trees never goes amiss.

It will always be a European tree. Until it becomes European furniture, or European firewood.

In a year or so it will be a free and independent tree outside of the relentless tyranny of the European Union. It will then have many more acorns to use as it sees fit.
The long march through the institutions is nearly complete.
