Question World Scout With Thanks Badge - Can it be worn on a uniform?

    Howdy Folks

I am buying some of my friends the World Scout With Thanks Badge, as ever since I basically press ganged them into helping out they really have taken too it and helped out alot; The badge is a little think you from me for their efforts. But I was just wondering if its actually considered a badge that can be worn on the uniform in place of the World Membership Badge. I suppect no, but dont ask don't get.

    Thanks in Advance

This is a presentation cloth badge. it is not a uniform badge.

the Thanks Badge is a silver or laser-etched pin badge. the cloth one is simply an addition to the pin badge to keep in the scouting tradition of awarding badges for achievements.

'should the badge be considered for wearing on uniform?' is a little meaningless. The Thanks Badge is the means of expressing the appreciation of scouting to those who are not members/associate members but who have been of service to scouting. only members and associate members are entitled to wear uniform.

i present them to people who are non-members who have been of great help to me.

if a member or associate member has been of good service to scouting then you should consider them for a good service award.

(but do remember it takes years to get one of these and you need to wait in the queue behind the senior scouters, DCs, CCs....!!)

sorry i can't be of help.

The only time I've seen them presented is to non Scouters - we had a couple of people who had been on the Exec for 10 years raising money & doing lots of back room work for the group.

I've not seen uniformed members wearing them.

    Official answer would be no.

Unofficial answer is it depends how bad the Badge Police are in your area. Actually, replacing the standard World Membership Badge would be a red flag to even badge wardens and PCSOs, and it's very close in design to the membership badge, so would look a bit obvious somewhere else.

I think if there's any badge on your shirt you don't swap it's the world membership badge
