We used to meet up down the pub with Nights Away Assessor, show him details of all the camps we had done on the last permit and he'd sign you off for a new one

    sorry don't understand.

i've done my renewal application. the NAA has a log of my experiences and no adverse reports and he is aware that i am aware of NA updates, so all that is needed is the admin part of the process.

i'm guessing it'll take 2-3 weeks for the NAA to complete all the forms and then another 2-3 weeks for the DC to run all the checks, hence my 4-6 week estimate.

you're not suggesting it can be done in less time? how is that possible when the NAA and DC have to get in touch with HQ and sort all the records there before HQ put it on compass? never known for HQ to act quicker than a couple of weeks at best!

All the DC has to do is check that your safeguarding is in date and that your appointment is in date (i.e. not needing renewing after your appraisal )
All the nights away adviser (thanks for the correction Alf) does is fill in a compass screen. I've had the whole process completed from receiving the renewal application to the DC signing off in less than an hour*.

*Not the normal time scale I have to admit but, as long as there isn't anything strange about the application, then I would expect days rather than weeks.

The whole process can be done and dusted in a matter of days or even hours, if your get everything in order.
Meeting with NAA to go over your previous experience, changes in POR, friendly libation, etc.
NAA does recommendation on Campass and you, as applicant, let DC know it's awaiting his approval.

    Job jobbed.

    many thanks.

so if everything is okay then it's a simple admin matter for the NAA and the DC sitting at a computer?

i've been told a few weeks, not days.

ah well a few weeks is better than a year for one of my ASLs (and it's still awaited!)

i'm sure i've been told that the fault lies with the new-fangled compussy what's it. surely it can't lie with real people not working hard enough?
