Excited to try new badges this term (new to us). Astronautics and Astrology...

Hehehe I apologise, total clickbait title!! It is of course the astronomy badge we'll be doing!

We'll be trying out some rocketeering and our March camp will be in a location with lovely dark skies for some star spotting.

And as for Astrology, everytime I look at my crystal ball I just see red six looming large so I tend not to look anymore.....

The Naturist Activity Badge would probably generate more clicks...

NB that revised requirements for the Astronautics and Astronomer badges are due to be published imminently.

There's a 12-month transition period so it need not affect your plans, but you might want to be alert to the changes in case there's something that might help you.

Making a simple quadrant to determine your latitude using the Pole Star is good, although it's not on the list for the badge.

Do that at night, then use the noontime sun and a watch to determine to determine the exact location of your campsite!
The long march through the institutions is nearly complete.

Use well known constellations like the Plough and Orion to find other interesting things in the sky...

Also, blow their minds by orientating your crowd so they're lying down with the head pointing north and the feet point south, then try to describe to them where they are and what's up and down in terms of the plane of the solar system. Then describe to them how fast they're burling through space and in what general direction.

I love all that stuff. Its fascinating.

You could do that with 28th Cambridge or 1st Panteg or 3rd East Kilbride or 172nd Derby or 60th Bradford North but NOT with 1st Chipping Sodbury.
