    Scout's Digital Day

    From Scouting +
Join us for the Scouts Digital Day. The Scout Association's Digital Team wants to share their plans for the next few years, and to get your feedback. We’d like 100 members of the Movement to join us at 65 Queen’s Gate (Baden-Powell House) on Saturday 14 April to discuss the digital strategy and help shape our work going forward. Register your interest today.

Anyone thinking of going - I might have gone but we have a rehearsal for our Renewal of Promises. Not sure whether it will look at the future of Compass, the future of the website(s), social media presence or what. My worry is that there will be too many bells and whistles ideas which most won't want or be able to use. Can we start basic and develop if there is a need?

A digital strategy that involves dragging oneself to London on a Saturday...

Maybe like a video stream/Facebook live? That would be good even for us Londoners who can't get to the event.

Do these events not have a demographic issue. So by the very nature of the event, the people involved are likely to be the ones who have a free Saturday & able to travel. Just thinking.....

For Scouting webinar read - them talking and you not getting a chance to say anything.
I am concerned that this day is also going to them telling us what they have decided is best for us based on a small sample of views and people. Scouting volunteers are so diverse that it will go over the heads of many and underwhelm others in equal measure.
When we were working on Getting It Right (as opposed to Compass) then several of us suggested that we should do some prototyping before fixing the spec but others knew better.

Following recent contact with the digital team I am somewhat more hopeful. Sadly I can't attend the day.

They have been taking consultation at the highest levels and concluded that digital strategy means digital strategy.

An aide went on to say, it would not be like a Mad max dystopia. Or the Matrix... Yes, that's a better analogy - The Matrix.
