    Volunteers allowance

With the start of the new tax year on 6 April TSA have arranged a "volunteer allowance", similar to the "Married Persons" allowance.

It's free money and will, effectively, pay you an allowance as a Leader. Some may want to donate this to their Groups.

    register at http://hmpg.net/ to claim.

You will need your National Insurance number, DBS number and your warrant number.

Well that confused me until I realised I hadn't noticed the passing of march. Good one!

I'm sure that Tim Kidd will have an announcement for this. His predecessor on Scouting Magazine was careful to make this sort of announcement a regular feature.
    Avril Poisson.

I believe that nowadays he's the chief Commissar responsible for, inter alia, distributing 'inclusion' to volunteer Leaders ( you can get a shrink-wrapped pack from your nearbye Scout Shop). I already had some, but found that it was out-dated which meant it ended up on the compost heap. But I'm assured that the latest offering is both up-to-date and helpful.

Altough the Volunteers allowance date expired is pie in the sky, there was a time when some suggestions were being made for those who do voluntary work to be allowed additional time off work to undertake those tasks, a quick google search shows this
    https://benefacto.org/three-days-pai...ilsons-office/
David Cameron initially announced plans for a mandatory three days’ paid volunteering leave at before last year’s general election on 10 April.

Obviously in the light of his departure from Number 10, there has been some question about the future of the policy; however, the Cabinet Office confirmed to Benefacto in early July that the policy was ‘still on the table’.
Whilst this may be of some slight use, a better approach would be for those who have employees that do voluntary work to be given allowances ( possibly through tax breaks etc) when employees request time off for volunteer work
This means that big companies, small companies, and even the self-employed could take advantage of such a scheme
