    Royal Wedding

Are you thrilled to bits or completely not interested?

I think I used up all my enthusiasm for royalty in 1981. Now I'm a fully-fledged Grumpy Old Man.
The long march through the institutions is nearly complete.

Not fussed at all. He's only 6th in line to the throne so a minor royal really and she is just a "celebrity" from a show I've never seen.

It keeps the papers amused I suppose.

Hopefully they will survive all the publicity etc. and go on to have a happy life together after all the feeding frenzy has passed.
To get more kids we need more adults - are we getting the message yet?

This is on a par with Alton Towers or Thorpe park getting a new attraction.

Except the media (and the BBC in particular) don't usually go into wild conniptions about it.

Conversely, its this kind of over-exposure that tips me over from being ambivalent about the monarchy to out and out disapproval.

On the other hand I will, of course, be glued to the telly for most of tomorrow.

At least until the end of the Chiefs/Falcons game.

I don't do sycophancy very well. I'm struggling watching the news at the moment. Tomorrow may call for a long walk somewhere that's quieter than usual.

I think the point I realised this had gone way too far was listening to a news broadcast in which they read out the statement asking for privacy for Ms Markle and her father - and then proceeded to analyse and speculate for 20 minutes. Doubt anyone in our house will bother to watch.
Does anyone know what's going on?

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show this morning was like something out of Mary Poppins or Oliver.

I mean, its borderline stuff at the best of times (he's far too bubbly and shouty). This morning though... He was like a hyperactive 5 year old on Christmas eve.

The BBC really does lose all sense of perspective when it comes to royal occasions.

Please make the hole thing stop.

In all honesty if it wasn't for having things on the next few days I'd have packed a rucksack and headed for somewhere remote with no phone or radio reception. I'm thinking the Loch Avon basin or similar.
    Yes I'm a grouch.

Like so many things, you can avoid it.

I have let it pass me by. I've not read articles and I've not watched telly programmes.

I love the world cup. People will moan but it can be avoided. Especially with catch-up TV everywhere! Nobody needs to be bothered by this stuff.

The thing is, this cant reasonably be avoided.

You'd have to turn everything electronic off and not speak to anyone for days.

Its not gone unnoticed, that even people (like me) saying how crap and overdone it all is, actually adds to the incessant hype.

    Honestly. It can be.

This is the most I've read about it.

I don't watch the news. Newscasts I've listened to.only mention it briefly.anf can be skipped forward.

Oh. It's on the news quiz podcast now.

    I can cope with that.

I wouldn't mind that right now to be honest.

I'm working all day tomorrow so should avoid most of it and will probably be home in time to watch the second half of the FA Cup Final.
