And as I said with regard to the broader LBGT* community, greater acceptance has come, not from closing ourselves off, but from allowing everyone in.
The point being that here trans* people are asking for their spaces not to be dominated by cis people, which isn't unreasonable. I don't think the intention is close themselves off, but just for there to be an understanding.

Which is approximately the same reasoning currently underpinning women's arguments.

Closing themselves off, may not be their intention, but if that list is anything to go by, it's what the end result will be.

Rereading the article... The first paragraph says:

Let’s cut the **** – there’s no positive way a cis person can dictate or speak on a life that you do not live and a world you do not have to navigate as a trans person.
Yet, the trans lobby are insisting they be allowed to dictate to women (and 'cis' people generally) how they should live their lives.

This is topical because (as I understand it) the GRA consultation in England and Wales has recently closed, many journalists and commentators couldn't, and it has been reported, women in parliament were told not to, comment on the debate.

All of that in the context of women (for example) still being on a sticky wicket with regards to equality. A lot of the rights they have, were only very recently hard won. And here we have trans-activists telling others not to dictate or speak on a life they didn't live - while they themselves are pretty much doing exactly that.

That part of the trans argument seems like a double standard to me. It's a very interesting and ironic clash of intentions and rights. We have people who were brought up as male (whether they wanted it that way or not) asking for rights that women have had to demand - in order to attain equality with people who were brought up as males...

    It's a gnarly, tricky one.
