If you take a look on Pinterest, there are a lot of heart themed science experiments that you may be able to do?

As our next pack meeting is on Valentine's Day, I thought I'd do something a bit different and investigate hearts. I've got a Mum coming in who works at a hospital to talk about circulation and bring in stethoscopes. I can get a blood pressure machine and have arranged to pick up a real heart from our local butcher to cut up and show them the chambers.
Does anyone have any other ideas for any heart-related activities please?
Thank you!

First aid?
CPR dummies? Signs of strokes (FAST)? Though that last one is strictly speaking brain rather than heart I guess.

St Valentine is the patron saint of Epilepsy, so first aid could be relevant

It's also possible to get dummy defibs. They make all the right noises but don't deliver the jolt. Your local St John's crowd might be able to help.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I didn't know about St Valentine being the patron saint of epilepsy - I shall be googling to find out more and passing that information on to the cubs. I'm using the idea of cubs taking their resting pulse and during different activities and have drawn up a table to use. Thanks again - let's hope the evening goes to plan!![]()
