    Beta website

I have been playing with the prototype replacement for scouts.org.uk, there are some good things (it is up to date) and some inconsistencies (which is a shame). There is still a pervading belief that Explorers (and even Network) are part of the Group.
What I would say is that I have made a number of comments so far and quite a few of them have already been actioned.
It is a big job to refresh all the material and I think they lack some Scouters with broad (cynical) knowledge to check and correct some of the text, but otherwise it is doing better than "Getting IT Right"

It's not bad, though it surprises me they have taken so long to get to this stage. Probably quite an accolade based on previous TSA IT performance.

Indeed. I like the fact that there is a session planner as well.

I tried the session planner yesterday and it was a bit buggy - I will try it again in the next day or two.

Things are changing very fast - the whole way of reporting problems has changed.

Are you just emailing feedback to the digital email address?

    is this login sharing ok?

if somebody shared a site that i had in beta with random people, id be livid. If those people gave me feedback i'd file it way way near the bottom of the pile. Site testing is methodical and planned to the nth degree for umpteem personas in seemingly infinite scenarios. For us, the feedback process is ordered and structured and the testers are well briefed on what they are testing, who they are testing as, what they need to look for and how to report back.

The request was to play with the beta site and feedback anything and everything. Initially there was a problem report option, it is not a response form (which looks more permanent). It is all done vis the website.
The beta is the "customer" facing bit, not the members area. I have not shared the login since as Chris says, the developers need to be given a chance to manage the issues (which so far they seem to be doing).

    First error noticed:

"All leaders taking young people away will give you notice, ask for your permission in writing and provide you with a way of contacting the group while they’re away."

Nope, per POR the permission may take any form including electronic. Do they not even realise the importance of getting facts right? The beta is supposed to be about the functionality itself - there is no excuse for incorrect content going live at any stage.

Or payment. Or dropping your kid off and scarpering off down the pub with a cheery wave.

Well, which is it that's important? Facts or function?

Trouble is, web creative types are a bit like marketing, prone to making stuff up if they don't know the answer. :)
(though they might know how to fix the quoting on this post)

I have noticed they are quick - not sure where they are getting the information from and how they are checking challenges (how does a web designer know that our challenge about written permission is right and what do they do when someone used to a local rule makes the opposite comment?

I know that Rachel Davidson for one is an experienced leader and has several current roles.
