    Wood Badge

    Hello all

Have had everything validated for my Woods Badge and compass advises that it was completed on 2/5/19, but it has not been awarded as yet. Any ideas how long it normally should take to be awarded? Don't want to go chasing, if it's something that normally takes a few months.

    Many thanks

    Regards Fiestafolie

It'll be with your DC who will no doubt present it on their next visit to your group or section or at a special event like your group AGM, a district event, St Georges Day or something like that. I got my Warrant Card and Wood badge at different group AGMs, but my last service award was at the St Georges day parade.

    Thanks Keith for the info
To be honest, I get much more of a reward out of seeing YP enjoying themselves each week and achieving their own awards.
    That's far more important!

There is no harm in chasing it up. Start by asking your DC if it has been received. A lot of things seem to get misplaced just before the big thing you could have got it presented at. I ended up getting my wood badge presented at a normal scout meeting and me and another ASL presented each other with our 5 year badges. Oh and my original appointment certificate was supposedly given to my GSL at a district cooking competition and never seen again.

My 15 year service award was due in 2015 - I finally received it in 2018!

If Compass shows your wood badge is awarded you can order your own from Scout shops, then hand to your GSL to present it.

Shameful, but it works, and my assumption is that you'd only have to do that once in a district before the district team at least got their act together...

I got mine on Wednesday having completed it on Compass in October - however it came through a while back (before Easter) and I asked our GSL to hold onto it so it could be presented when we did the next batch of Cubs investitures so they got to take part and realise that learning doesn't stop when you grow up (not that I have!).
Does anyone know what's going on?

My wife never got hers, she got mine!
The night we were presented them, she had just been signed off and as I was going to be presented with my dadís beads, which in turn came from his old Skip/my first DC when I was a cub and scout, the DC presented her with mine so we got them at the same time.
She got the paperwork from Gilwell saying welcome to the largest scout group please consider donating.

Though to be honest, the ones I wear routinely are ones I carved myself from a piece of Oak I picked up at Gilwell.

Suppose I shouldn't complain, they surprised me with a Medal of Merit on the same night. 20 years next year so i'll pray that comes on time. :-)
