    What's working?

It seems we increasingly see moans and grumbles about HQ and their various initiatives and ideal world ideas about what Scouting is/should be, but very little about what people think is actually good/working well etc.

So my question is, what (if anything) do you think Gilwell is coming out with/doing that you agree with/appreciate etc?

I'll start with a couple: the new website and especially the programme planning tool are infinitely better than what we've had for a long time. I've already used a couple of the activities and it's fair to say they worked really well and have lots of notes/tips etc. Also, the fairly recent review on our tone of voice etc I think is pitched quite well. They may be preaching to the converted (as in those who aren't PR-minded in the slightest will just carry on regardless), but in my mind we really do need to be more conversational and less "official" in our communications.

The website is definitely better. And the wee online chat help function is great.

We tend not to interact with things like program planners or the occasional #stuff they do, so I can't comment.

Other than that, while I can't speak for anyone else, our interactions with HQ are several places removed via other rungs on the Scouting ladder.

The very few dealings I've had with SHQ, have been fine. They're a decent bunch.

[whispers] I like the new brand/logo.

And the website. The new website with clicky POR is good. Okay, we shall see if it bursts into tears when the first POR update happens.

And actually, content aside, I like that HQ are putting on webinars and getting better at telling us what they're up to. (whether they should be up to it, whether it's useful "work" is not for here)

I like that HQ are doing hard yards with PR and promotion and getting stuff into the press, ambassadors and chief scout and so on.

I like that HQ have moved us from a laughing stock/forgotten to something approaching acceptance and acceptability.
