Ha ha ha. Pre-pack, then. Classic. That must have been the plan all along.

So basically Go Outdoors will continue trading, maybe shrugging off a few unprofitable branches and a few staff, and shrugging off its debts to creditors.

Must admit i'm glad it wont be disappearing - its a useful store... but its a shame companies can just dispose of debt and carry on as before.

I can see them getting sold off fairly soon.

Rule 66. A map and compass offers no protection against getting horribly lost.

It was obviously going to be what would happen.

I doubt it - JD have been integrating their retail IT systems (which has been a cause of many of their issues), if they were looking to sell they wouldn't do that.

Not only that, but apparently the Go Outdoors HQ staff based in Sheffield all had to transfer to the JD Sports HQ in Bury, or take redundancy just before Christmas 2019.

I saw this in the Sheffield Star, for whom it was important as Go Outdoors started in Sheffield, when the management of Camping and Caravanning Centre (CCC) bought it out from the previous owners, and Mitchells Practical Caravans in Wakefield was the first shop they bought out and converted into a Go Outdoors in 1999 or 2000. Many explorers from my district have been employed at the latter shop.

Yep. In the days before the scout discount, I always used to hope I’d find one in order to get a scout discount
